FORT WORTH, Texas -- The TCU football team held a 60-minute practice and a 54-play scrimmage Tuesday in Amon Carter Stadium.

The following are comments from Horned Frog coach Gary Patterson:

"At some point in time, you just got to scrimmage and do a little bit more but be very careful. We went 50-some plays today along with practice. We're just trying to put kids in game-type situations.

"The offense was improved again. We tackled well on defense. We have to keep communicating and doing the things we need to do. The offense got us a little today. The quarterbacks did a better job with tempo which is something we do, and it made our safeties and everybody have to work more.

"There won't be as much physical contact at Thursday's practice since we have a big scrimmage Saturday. We will clean-up things and work on areas we need to improve. We won't have much contact even though we'll be in pads. You just can't. We've had two big scrimmages and three hard practices in the last five days. You can't do that every day of the week and keep people healthy. We need to get better and not always beating on each other."

The Frogs will practice Thursday at 3:45 p.m.
