HOUSTON - Eric Arnold had four hits and Kenny Baugh picked up his 12th win to lead the Rice Owls to a 13-3 win over TCU Saturday at Reckling Park. Rice improves to 42-17 overall, while the Frogs drop to 32-27.

The Owls scored twice in the first and second innings to provide Baugh with an early 4-0 lead. Austin Davis doubled and scored on A.J. Porfirio's single to get the first inning started. Then in the second inning, Arnold's two-out single drove in Davis, who had reached on an infield single.

Baugh, who earned his 40th career win, allowed three runs on eight hits, one walk and six strikeouts in seven innings pitched. He raised his record to 12-2 on the year. Phillip Tribe and Phillip Barzilla combined to pitch two scoreless innings to close the game.

In the fourth, the Frogs scored a pair of runs to cut the deficit to 4-2. With two outs, Tom Bates singled and Walter Olmstead walked. Cade Harris then lined a double down the right field line, scoring Bates and Olmstead.

After TCU starter Clayton Jerome issued a leadoff walk to start the fifth, Patrick Newburn came in to pitch for the Frogs. He allowed three hits, including a run-scoring single to Davis and a two-run double to Arnold. Chad Durham, who replaced Newburn after the Arnold double, retired the final two hitters in the inning. The Owls scored four runs in the seventh and a single run in the eighth off of Josh Gardner to pad the lead. In addition to his four hits, Arnold drove in three runs. Davis had three hits and Mike Lorsbach added two hits and three runs batted in.

TCU's final run of the contest came in the sixth. Erick Macha reached on a fielders choice that retired Greg Bratton at second. Macha eventually came around to score on Harris' single to right field. Ramon Moses, Bratton and Harris each had two hits for the Frogs.

The series will conclude Sunday, May 20. First-pitch for TCU's final WAC baseball game is scheduled for 1:05 p.m.
