Box Score

FORT WORTH, Texas - Kyle Shoemaker (Edmond, Okla./Santa Fe) tossed his first complete game in nearly a year and Chris Neuman (Fort Worth, Texas/Western Hills) went 4-for-4 with a pair of RBI to lead TCU to a 5-1 victory over South Florida Saturday afternoon at Lupton Stadium and Williams-Reilly Field.

With the triumph, TCU (30-18, 17-6 C-USA) equaled its win total for all of last season and moved within a game of league-leading Southern Miss in the Conference USA standings, as the Golden Eagles dropped a 7-6 decision to East Carolina on Saturday.

Neuman put the Horned Frogs on the scoreboard for the first time all weekend when he drilled a solo home run to right center field in the second inning, giving TCU a 1-0 lead. The homer was Neuman's team-leading 14th of the campaign.

The Frogs went on to add single runs in the third, fourth, seventh and eighth innings to put the game away. Neuman collected another RBI on a single in the fourth en route to his perfect day at the plate.

Left fielder Chris Meeks (Brownwood, Texas/Brownwood) also drove in a pair of runs on a fielder's choice in the third and a double in the seventh to help lead TCU. Jared Lundeen's (Fountain Hills, Ariz./Burnsville, Minn.) sacrifice fly to right in the eighth rounded out the Horned Frog scoring.

Shoemaker continued to impress as he stretched his consecutive scoreless innings streak to 21 and two-thirds before allowing the only South Florida run of the ballgame with one away in the ninth. In all, the southpaw allowed just six hits while walking two and striking out two to register his first complete game since a 6-1 win over Cincinnati on May 12 of last season.

Shoemaker upped his overall record to 6-2 and lowered his ERA to 2.55, both good for second on the squad.

TCU and USF (28-18, 12-9 C-USA) will play the rubber match of their three-game series Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. at Lupton Stadium. Right-hander Robbie Findlay (3-1, 2.74 ERA) will take the mound for the Frogs while righty Chris Delaney (2-1, 6.57 ERA) is scheduled to man the hill for the Bulls.
