FT. WORTH, Texas - The TCU men's and women's cross country teams will not need to travel very far for their final meet Saturday as they head up I-35 for the University of North Texas Invitational in Denton, Texas. The UNT event will take place at the Eagle Point Campus adjoining the Mean Green Athletics Center.

The Horned Frogs return to competition for the first time since turning in impressive performances at the University of Texas at Arlington Invitational on Sept. 10. The men's team captured first place while the women finished in the runner-up spot.

While the UNT Invite serves as a fine tune-up and a measuring tool for the Frogs' men and women teams before Pre-Nationals and the Mountain West Conference Championships begin in mid-October, the main focus for TCU cross country coach Patrick Cunniff will be to see how each team has progressed over the past three meets.

"This is our last meet before the MWC Championships so we'll be focusing on ourselves more than the meet itself," Cunniff said. "It will be very important for the team to see how they've progressed over the last three meets, the effects of their training in the past six weeks and how each of them has evolved competitively.

We're focusing on strength rather than speed," Cunniff added. "It's a high priority for us."

The Frogs will be competing along with meet host UNT, Texas-Arlington, Tarleton, SMU and Midwestern.
