FORT WORTH, Texas - The contract of TCU volleyball coach Sandy Troudt will not be renewed for the 2002 season, Athletics Director Eric Hyman announced Tuesday.

"We appreciate all the hard work that Sandy and her staff have put in to get this program off the ground," said Hyman. "However, we believe it's time to take the program in a different direction." The search for a new volleyball coach will begin immediately, according to Hyman.

Troudt, who began the TCU volleyball program six years ago, posted a 57-129 record during her stint in Fort Worth. Coming off a 15-18 campaign in 2000, the school's best record, the Frogs were picked to finish seventh in their first season in Conference USA. However, TCU struggled out of the gate, dropping its first six matches, and finished the season with a 7-21 record, including a 3-13 mark in the conference, tying for 13th in the 14-team league.

Troudt began the first of her 23 years of coaching at Goodland High School, where her teams appeared in four consecutive Kansas state championships tournaments from 1978-1982, including taking home the 1981 state title. From there she returned to her hometown of Greeley, Colorado, where she took over the reins at Greeley West High School. She broke into the college coaching ranks in 1986 at Texas Women's University in Denton and compiled a 194-161 record in 10 seasons before becoming the first and only coach in TCU volleyball history in the fall of 1995.
