Volleyball Finishes Road Season with 3-0 Loss to San Jose State
SAN JOSE, Calif. (Nov. 20) -- San Jose State quickly disposed of TCU, 3-0 (15-3, 15-4, 15-9) at the Event Center in San Jose, Calif. The Spartans (25-5, 11-2 WAC) closed out their home season by hitting .281 on the match. The Frogs (9-19, 3-9 WAC) struggled offensively with a .069 attack percentage. SJSU outside hitter Darcy Walker led the winning side with 17 kills. For the Frogs, freshman middle blocker Katie Kieffer landed five kills. TCU got off to a slow start, trailing by six before scoring its first point. Successive points were difficult to obtain as San Jose State cruised to a game one victory. The Spartans committed just one error as they hit .423 in the first game. SJSU also had three team blocks. TCU landed seven kills, but had seven errors as it hit .000. The second game began with TCU claiming a 4-1 lead. However, San Jose State came out of a timeout to side out and win six points on the serve of outside hitter Jocelyn Gallop to lead 7-4. The Spartans next rotation contributed five points and the following service rotation added three as the Spartans closed out the second game, taking a 2-0 lead. Walker landed nine of her team's 12 kills in the second game. TCU, for the second-straight game, managed seven kills as a team. The Frogs were able to keep within distance of San Jose State for most of the final game. After being tied at eight, the Spartans were able to distance themselves from TCU and was able to close out the match. Sophomore middle blocker Allison Lynch filled in at outside hitter in the final game and had two kills. The Horned Frogs are schedule to return to action on Friday, Nov. 26, the day after Thanksgiving, for their final homestand of the season. TCU hosts Rice at 7 p.m. at the Rickel Center on Nov. 26. The Frogs will play their final match of the season on Saturday, Nov. 27 when they host Tulsa at 7 p.m. at the Rickel Center. |
