TCU Regains C-USA Ground in Victory Over Charlotte

Fort Worth, Texas - The Charlotte 49ers fell to the hosts, the TCU Horned Frogs, in a three-game sweep. Junior outside hitter Dominika Szabo led the Frogs to their first Conference USA victory in two weeks, getting them one step closer to locking into the C-USA tournament next weekend. Szabo had a banner night, going 18 for 36 with only two errors to collect a .444 hitting average. Junior opposite Ellen Rehme also had a good night, hammering out 13 kills in 24 attempts for a .417 average and nine digs. As a whole, the Frogs had a great offensive night, hitting .391 as a team. The scores, 30-28, 30-19, and 30-24, reflect the offensive strength of TCU, as the second game was their best, hitting .636 as a team. Senior setter Tori Barlow also had an outstanding night, dishing out 41 assists with three kills and nine digs. Charlotte fought hard, hitting a respectable .262, with Abbey Szlanfucht leading the way with 14 kills in 31 attempts for a .355 average along with nine digs. Jessica Kelly also helped out with nine kills and four blocks. The Frogs close out their home season tomorrow night in the volleyball senior night, at 7 p.m., following the TCU vs. Cincinnati football game. The volleyball team is now 18-12 and 4-8 in C-USA. Charlotte falls to 8-23 overall and 1-11 in C-USA.
