Fort Worth, Texas - In another close battle the TCU Horned Frogs were unable to pull out the win, losing in the fifth game to the visiting Marquette Golden Eagles, 30-28, 24-30, 22-30, 31-29, 15-11.

Two and a half hours of fast and furious volleyball rocked the University Rec Center Saturday night as one of the largest crowds this year came out to support the Frogs. TCU rode high on their customary early scoring streak, but the Golden Eagles woke up and rallied back to make the first game a two-point contest. The first game turned out to be the Frogs' best offensively, hitting .300 as a team, Emily Allen's six for seven performance helping out.

Marquette took the next two games with relative ease, but the Frogs stepped it up in the fourth to force the tiebreaker round, pushing it right to the 31-29 end. The fifth game looked like it was in the TCU bag, scoring four consecutive unanswered points, but a Marquette kill turned the tables. A controversial call made the score 8-5 Marquette, and the two teams switched sides for the Golden Eagles to come away with the victory.

Although neither team ranks very high in the Conference USA in blocks, the stuffs became the highlight of the night. Between the two, they managed to deny 26 potential kills altogether, with Marquette's Ann Lopata and Erica Heisser collecting seven blocks apiece, while TCU's Hayley Harmon took five.

A pair of Frogs also managed double-doubles: Tori Barlow passed 58 assists and grabbed 14 digs while Ellen Rehme dealt out 16 kills and 10 digs. Dominika Szabo managed 21 kills, Emily Allen 10, and Anna Vaughn 12. Harmon and Britany Smith covered the floor for double-digit digs.

Two Golden Eagles tallied double-doubles: Erin Freer hit 14 kills and scraped together 22 digs, while Sarah Vernon passed 56 assists and dug 13 balls. Lopata scored 18 kills and Theresa Coughlin picked up 17. Three other Golden Eagles scooped up double-digit digs.

The Horned Frogs drop to 17-10 and 3-6 in the conference while Marquette is now 7-15 and 5-5 in C-USA play. TCU travels north to Cincinnati and Louisville next weekend to take on two of the toughest opponents C-USA has to offer.
