Tommy Killen

Fort Worth, Texas -- The United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCA) announced the All-Academic Track and Field teams and TCU received honors for two men's individuals and also for the women's team.

Sophomore Joe Brown and freshman Tommy Killen earned awards with grade point averages of 3.3 and 3.754, respectively.

This was Brown's second academic award after being named to the 2006 CoSIDA Academic All-District first team District VI squad.

Brown opened the 2006 outdoor season at the Dr. Pepper Invitational with a first-place finish and shattered his own personal-best mark. His toss of 222-05 (67.79m) rewrote the school record book and established a new Mountain West Conference all-time mark.

For his efforts, he was named the MWC Player of the Week on March 28. He was also featured in March on the WB-33 television station as its Student-Athlete of the Week for his academic and athletic achievements.

The Flyin Frogs' women's team posted a GPA of 3.020, putting them in the top 60 teams in the nation.

The TCU women, ranked 22nd in the nation, posted a pair of conference records (4x100 relay and 4x400 relay). The Frogs also set new school marks in five events - indoor 400 meters, indoor 400-meter hurdles, indoor 4x400 relay, outdoor 200 meters and outdoor 4x400 relay.

All individual honors are above the required 3.2 GPA, and teams being recognized have a team GPA of 3.0 or higher.
