FT. WORTH, Texas - Two sprinters from the TCU track and field have been selected to compete in the 2006 NACAC Under 23 Track and Field Championships in Santo Domingo of the Dominican Republic on July 7-9. Nathandra John will represent St. Kitts (Carribean), while Otis McDaniel will wear the red, white and blue for the United States of America.

"This is great for Otis and Nathandra to be selected for the NACAC Under 23 championships," TCU head track and field coach Darryl Anderson said. "I'm happy for the both of them. Otis performed very well this season, and this meet will be a spring board for Nathandra to help the women's team next year."

McDaniel, who will represent the U.S. in the men's 200 meters, capped off a successful sophomore campaign. The native from San Antonio, Texas, earned a pair of All-America certificates as part of the men's 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships earlier this month. He was one of two TCU athletes competing in two individual events (100m and 200m) at the national meet this year.

In May, McDaniel won crowned champion in both the men's 100 meters and 200 at the 2006 Mountain West Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships. For his performance, he was named the league's outstanding male performer and garnered all-conference honors.

TCU got a representative from its women's team competing at the international meet. John, a St. Kitts native in the Carribean, will be among the world's young elite sprinters in the 400 meters. At the league's outdoor championships this year, she clocked a season-best 52.31 to win the 400 meters and receive all-conference recognition.

At the NCAA meet in June, John advanced to the semifinals of the women's 400 meters and was part of the All-American women's 4x400 relay unit that set a new school record with a season-best time of 3:30.00. She recorded five top-three finishes in the 400 meters this season, winning the event three times.
