FORT WORTH, Texas - TCU sophomore Joe Brown was named to the 2006 COSIDA Academic All-District first team District VI squad the committee announced on Thursday.

Brown opened the 2006 outdoor season at the Dr. Pepper Invitational with a first-place finish and shattered his own personal-best mark. His toss of 222-05 (67.79m) rewrote the school record book and established a new Mountain West Conference all-time mark.

For his efforts, he was named the MWC Player of the Week on March 28.

His success in the classroom was also on display as he posted a 3.80 cumulative grade point average in business. He was featured in March on the WB33 television station as its Student-Athlete of the Week for his academic and athletic achievements.
