Arlington, Texas - TCU sprinter Donita Harmon logged NCAA Regional qualifying times in two events and Zelma Wade posted a qualifying mark in the discus at the 25th UTA Open in Arlington on Saturday. The meet served as a final tuneup for several members of the Flyin' Frogs track squad as they prepare for the Conference USA Outdoor Championships which will be held in Houston, May 12-14.

Harmon, a junior from Albuquque, finished third in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.52 seconds and placed second in the 200 meters with a time of 23.87 seconds. Both marks were well under the NCAA Regional standards of 11.75 and 23.96 seconds respectively. Harmon, who has been plagued by a foot injury which kept her sidelined for the entire indoor season, was competing for the first time this spring in the 100 and for just the second time in the 200.

Wade, a sophomore from Austin, Texas, won the discus event with a personal best toss of 48.14 meters (157-11), above the NCAA Regional standard of 47.30 meters. The winning throw was also more than nine feet longer than her previous career best effort of 45.35 meters (148-09).

In other events involving TCU women, sophomore MaKeatha Cooper finished second in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 13.60 seconds. Julie Curtis was 14th in the sprint hurdle event with a time of 14.87 seconds and placed fourth in the 400 meter hurdles, breaking the tape in 63.07.

On the men's side, senior Brett Wilson was the runnerup in the 400 meter dash with a time of 47.25 seconds. Quincy Butler placed sixth in same event with a time of 47.60. Michael DePriest was 10th in the long jump with a best leap of 6.57 meters, while teammate Mark Lettieri was 15th in the event with a mark of 6.14 meters. DePriest also placed fifth in the triple jump with a mark of 14.23 meters. Joey Kramer was 15th in the discus with a mark of 39.83 meters.
