Six high school seniors have signed national letters of intent to attend TCU on track & field scholarships, TCU head coach Darryl Anderson announced today. The Frogs have inked three on the men's side, Evan Wright, Justyn Warner and Thomas Killen, and three for the women's squad, Alyson Trovato, Candis Kelley and Brittany Scott.

"We're off to a good start with three signees on both sides," said TCU head coach Darryl Anderson. "We were able to hit most of the areas, signing a distance runner for the women, a thrower for both the men and the women, and three multi-talented sprinters who should be able to help us immediately."

Evan Wright, who hails from Overland High School in Aurora, Colorado, was the 2004 Colorado 5A state champion in the 400 meters and was part of the silver medal-winning 4x400 meter relay squad. The son of former Denver Broncos all-pro cornerback Louis Wright, Evan is slated to compete in the 100, 200 and 400 meters at the 2005 state championships. He has recorded personal best times of 10.4 seconds in the 100, 21.4 in the 200 and 47.23 in the 400.

Justyn Warner was the National Scholastic indoor champion at 60 meters earlier this year with a time of 6.79 seconds. The Markham, Ontario, Canada product owns a best time of 6.74 seconds in the even He figures to compete in both the 100 and 200 meters for the Flyin' Frogs.

Thomas Killen is a shot put and discus thrower from Catholic-New Iberia High School in New Iberia, Louisiana. He owns season bests of 54-01.50 in the shot and 196-3 in the discus. He was recently named the Outstanding Performer at the District 6-3A meet.

Alyson Trovato is a distance runner from Cedar Park High School near Austin, Texas, where she was a prep teammate of current Horned Frog distance runners Halie Bullin and Cassie Hostick. She helped her team to the state cross country title as a junior in 2003 and led her team to a sixth place finish at the state meet in 2004. She is a regional qualifier on the track at 1,600 meters after winning the District 15-5A title. Her best time in the mile is 5:13.

Candis Kelley attends A&M Consolidated High School in College Station, Texas where she competes in both the shot put (47-9) and discus (146-8) events. She placed third in the shot at the 2003 5A state championships, then was the 5A state champion in 2004 with a mark of 44-00.50. She placed sixth last summer at the USA Junior Outdoor Track & Field Championships held at College Station with a mark of 46-10.

Brittany Scott is a sprint specialist and horizontal jumper from Lancaster, Texas. She placed eighth at the 4A state championships in the 200 in 2003 and was sixth in the event in 2004. She has been part of three straight 4A state champion track & field teams (2002-2004) and has been part of four relays that have captured state titles (4x100 and 4x400 in 2003; 4x100 and 4x200 in 2004). She is a 2005 regional qualifier in the 200, 4x100 and 4x200 meter relays.
