Rifle tops Nevada in NCAA Qualifier

FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU women's rifle team picked up its fourth straight victory, topping Nevada in the NCAA Qualifier that took place in Fort Worth this past weekend. Simone Riford grab first place honors in air rifle for the second time this season, shooting a 585. Erin Lorenzen claimed her third victory in smallbore with a score of 582, while Emily Paper shot a personal best 575 in smallbore to finish fourth. TCU finished one-two in air rifle, with Riford claiming top honors. Right behind her was Emily Paper who shot a 583 in the event. In all, the Frogs had six of the top-10 finishers in the meet. Lauren Sullivan recorded a 581 to finish fifth and Lorenzen came in sixth with a 580. Rounding out the top 10 were Tanya Gorin in eighth (580) and Nikki LeCompte in 10th with a 576. The tightly contest air rifle competition went the way of the Frogs as they claimed the 2,329-2,324 victory. In smallbore, TCU again garnered six of the top-10 spots to earn the 2,296-2,283 win. Following Lorenzen and Paper's finish, the Frogs took the final four spots in the top 10. Sullivan finished seventh with a 570 and Riford came in eight, shooting a 569. Gorin shot a 566 and LeCompte a 561 to finish 10th. The Frogs topped Nevada with an aggregate score of 4,625, while Nevada amassed 4,607 points.
