Men's Golf Team Qualifies for NCAA Super Regionals

April 28, 2007

Commerce, Texas

The Texas A&M University-Commerce men's golf team received an invitation, on Friday, to compete in the South/South Central Super Regional to be held at Robert Trent Jones at the Shoals in Florence, Ala. on May 7-9.

The Lions earned the eighth and final seed in the South Central region to become one of the eighty teams participating in the NCAA Super Regionals. The South/South Central region is comprised of the top-8 teams from each region and the top-5 individuals not with a team.

A&M-Commerce enters the super regional after finishing in a tie for third place in the Lone Star Conference Men's Golf Championship held on April 16-17. Sophomore Blake Worden garnered All-Tournament team honors for the second consecutive year and paced the Lions with a fifth place finish.

The team is comprised of Worden, senior Andy Carter, junior Pinkey Hartline, freshman Chase Johnson, and freshman Brian Pearce.

The Lions are making their first super regional appearance, as a team, since 2001. Worden qualified as an individual last season and placed 10th in the South Central Region.

The top team from each region within the super regional and the top individual not with a team from each super regional (regardless of region) will advance to the finals May 22-25 at The Meadows in Allendale, Michigan.
