Daniel Swaim Named Lone Star Conference North Division Special Teams Player of the Week
Sept. 17, 2007
Commerce, Texas
On Sunday, Texas A&M University-Commerce junior punter Daniel Swaim was named the Lone Star Conference North Division Special Teams Player of the Week. The Kilgore, Texas native in his first collegiate start had six punts for 313 yards. His first punt of the contest went for 70 yards - the longest punt in school history since Will Schale had a 74 yard punt in 1998. In his collegiate debut, two weeks ago, he had a 50-yard punt against Texas A&M-Kingsville. He went on to punt the ball seven times for 244 yards and an average of 34.9 yards per kick. For the last two years, Swaim has been a defender on the Lon Morris College soccer team. A graduate of Kilgore high school, he was a three-year letterwinner in soccer, twice in football and in baseball. On the gridiron, he was not a kicker; he was a defensive tackle and offensive guard as a two-year starter and letterwinner. His brother, Dustin was a four-year member of the football team at Mary Hardin Baylor. For the season, he has punted the ball 13 times for 557 yards for an average of 42.8 yards per kick.
