CROSS COUNTRY COMPETES AT MISSOURI STAMPEDE

Commerce, Texas - The Lions competed in the Missouri Southern Stampede Saturday competing against 33 other institutions, including Division I school Arkansas. The women finished 29th out of 35 squads, while the men came in 13th out of 33. In the 5,000 meter course, Nicki Williams led the women placing 80th with a time of 19:26 followed by Andra Bickel who clocked in at 20:28 and coming in behind them was Kara Bickel at 20:35. Other Lions who placed for the women's team were Heather Eaton, Chelesa Pattison, Courtney Fernandes and Danielle Daniels. Senior Ryan Dirickson had the best finish for the men coming in 47th with a time of 26:16 on the 8,000 meter course. Chase Snowden ran 26:28, followed by Logan Bowman 27:14, Caleb Reynolds 27:37, Matt Snowden ,27:44 and Amos Davidson, 29:32 all placed respectively behind leader Dirickson. Overall the men finished 13th in front #5 in the south region Pitt State (Kan.) and Southwest Baptist (Missouri), who is ranked 10th. The Lions will take the week off from competition before heading to the North Texas Invitational on October 1st. They will compete in one more meet after Denton before going to the Lone Star Conference Championship meet on Oct. 22nd.
