Texas A&M-Commerce Competes at Tarleton State Invitational

The Texas A&M University-Commerce men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Tarleton State Invitational on Thursday.

To lead the women, Niki Williams won the 3000 meter run by three seconds in 10:57.64 and was fourth in the 1500-meter run (5:07.20). The field events continue to lead the Lions as they picked up a pair of third-place finishes. In the discus, Brittany Fisher with a throw of 121-2 ¼ (36.94m) and Rachel Redding in the hammer throw 128-0 (39.01m). On the track, Sonoma Gordon was fifth in the 100-meter dash (12.54) and Kara Bickel was eighth in the 800-meter run (2:33.51).

On the men's side, the Lions had five second-place fishes. Leslie White picked up a pair of runner-up honors in the high jump (6-4) and in the javelin throw (170-2 ½) and in addition, Sammie Ervan crossed the line in 4:08.92. The Texas A&M-Commerce 4x100-meter relay also placed second (43.54). Plus, Larry Gilbert was second in the discus (153-7 ¾) and third in the shot put (51-2). Kyle Thompson was third in the 110-meter hurdles (14.95) and in the high jump (6-2).
 

 

The Lions will be off the next two weeks before heading to the Dr. Pepper Invitational in Waco, Texas on Friday, March 23rd.
