SU Cruises to Shutout Victory Without Allowing a Shot

The SU women's soccer team steamrolled the University of Dallas on in Dallas, TX on Friday (Sept. 28) by a score of 7-0 while not allowed the Crusaders to even attempt a single shot.

First-year Amy Douglas (Missouri City, TX/Hightower HS) opened things up with her fifth goal of the season during the 11th minute with an assist from sophomore Laura Kromann (Austin, TX/Bowie HS). A.J. Andreola (Garland, TX/Berkner HS) kept things going 15 minutes later when she extended the lead to 2-0 with an unassisted goal. Junior Casey Grier (Spring, TX/Klein Collins HS) was next, taking an assist from Jennifer Huntsman (Brenham, TX/Brenham HS) and scoring goal number five on the year. Danielle Madison (Paradise Valley, AZ/Arcadia HS) also scored with an assist from Grier during the period to give the Pirates a 4-0 halftime lead.

In the second period, Douglas scored goal number two for the game at the 57:52 mark unassisted. Junior Annabelle Ross (San Antonio, TX/Alamo Heights HS) pitched in with a goal, assisted by Chrissy Vasquez (Georgetown, TX/Georgetown HS) for a 6-0 lead at 63:38. Less than three minutes later, Vasquez had an assist to Kromann for the final goal of the game. It was her second goal of the year.

Southwestern improves its record to 6-3 while Dallas drops to 0-8 for the year. SU attempted 47 shots in the game and held a 9-0 advantage in corner kicks.

The Pirate next travel to Kerrville, TX for a 1:00 p.m. game against Schreiner University.
