The SU men's soccer team faced off against the Pirates from Whitworth University on Sunday (Sept. 2) and played through two overtimes to a 0-0 tie in San Antonio, TX. Throughout the game, Whitworth was firing off more shots than SU, holding a 17-9 advantage in the contest, but SU held a 6-5 advantage in shots on goal. First-year Michael Ross (Corinth, TX/Denton HS) made his first ever start in goal, playing the first period and making one save. Junior Ryan Tasin (Georgetown, TX/Georgetown HS) played the final 65 minutes, stopping four shots to preserve the shutout. Southwestern moves to 1-0-1 on the season white Whitworth is now 0-1-1. SU will host the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor on Tuesday (Sept. 4) with the game set for a 5:00 p.m. start time in Georgetown, TX.
