The Southwestern University men's golf team shot a final round 321 and finished in eighth place at the Denison Fall Classic in Granville, OH on Sunday (Oct. 8).

First-year Ricky Jones (St. Louis, MO/Eureka HS) was the top-finisher for the Pirates, shooting a 151 (75-76) and tying for sixth place. Christopher Paiz (Sugar Land, TX/The Kinkaid School) was tied for the lead after round one and ended the tournament tied for 15th with a 153 (71-82).

Tyler Russell (Cypress, TX/Cy-Fair HS) tallied a 156 (76-80) over two rounds, good for a 20th-place tie. Andy Lee (El Paso, TX/CSU-Northridge) placed 64th with a two-round total of 170 (87-83) and Patrick Boatright (Katy, TX/Katy HS) ended play in 67th with final tally of 173 (86-87).

The SU team had a two-day total of 629 (308-321) and finished one stroke behind the host school Denison University. Otterbein College (591) took the team title, followed by Wittenberg University (605), DePauw University (616), Mount Union College (618) and Baldwin-Wallace College (620) rounded out the top five.

The Pirates compete again at the Mary Hardin-Baylor Invitational in Salado, TX on October 16-17.
