Ricky Jones (St. Louis, MO/Eureka HS) shot nine over par and the SU men's golf team finished in 11th place at the Royal Lakes/Oglethorpe Fall Invitational on Tuesday (Oct. 23).

Jones was the Pirates' top finisher with a 151 (75-76) good for a 33rd-place tie. Next for Southwestern was first-year Stephen Gehring (College Station, TX/A&M Consolidated HS) who tied for 39th with a 153 (77-76).

Ian Rice (Amarillo, TX/Amarillo HS) fired an 18-over 160 (76-84) and tied for 52nd. Sophomore Connor McMindes (Hurst, TX/Abilene Christian University) tied for 54th with a two-round tally of 162 (79-83). Tim Decker (Colleyville, TX/Grapevine HS) shot 169 (82-87) for 63rd place.

The Pirates finished 11th with a team total of 626 (307-319). The team winner was Guilford College (570) with Oglethorpe University (572), Methodist university (582), Huntingdon College (583) and LaGrange College (592) rounding out the top five.

The tournament was the last of the fall for SU with their next action coming on February 25, 2008 at the UMHB Spring invitational in Temple, TX.
