The Southwestern University men's golf team is currently in sixth place after two rounds on day one at the West Region Invitational hosted by SU at Teravista Golf Club in Round Rock, TX on Monday (Apr. 2). Senior Christopher Paiz (Sugar Land, TX/The Kinkaid School) led the Pirates with a two-round score of 152 (76-76). He is currently tied for eighth place and is seven strokes out of first place. One stroke behind Paiz was sophomore Tyler Russell (Cypress, TX/Cy-Fair HS) with a 153 (73-80), in a tie for 12th. Tied for 19th is first-year Ricky Jones (St. Louis, MO/Eureka HS), who fired a 154 (77-77) on day one. JK Harrison (Las Cruces, NM/Las Cruces HS), a junior, is tied for 50th with a two-round tally of 164 (81-83). Xan Erwin (Austin, TX/Westwood HS) shot a 167 (87-80) and is alone in 59th. Playing as individuals, Andy Lee (El Paso, TX/CSU-Northridge) and Caleb Cox (Huntsville, TX/Huntsville HS) finished in 60th and 68th. The two shot 168 (86-82) and 189 (96-93), respectively. The University of La Verne is in first place with a 604, followed by Texas Lutheran University (609), California Lutheran University (610), University of Redlands (611) and the University of Texas at Tyler (614). The final round of play is on Tuesday (Apr. 3) at Teravista.
