The SU men's golf team shot a 327 in the first round at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor Spring Invitational in Temple, TX on Monday (Feb. 26) and is currently in 11th place. Senior Christopher Paiz (Sugar Land, TX/The Kinkaid School) was the top performer for SU and is tied for 25th with a first round score of 79. First-year Ricky Jones (St. Louis, MO/Eureka HS) is currently tied for 33rd after shooting 80. Sophomore Xan Erwin (Austin, TX/Westwood HS) fired an 82 and is in a 49th-place tie. Tyler Russell (Cypress, TX/Cy-Fair HS), a sophomore, is tied for 64th with a one round tally of 86. Senior Andy Lee (El Paso, TX/CSU-Northridge) shot an 89 and is in 72nd. Playing as an individual, JK Harrison (Las Cruces, NM/Las Cruces HS) is in sole possession of 78th with a 91. The Pirates trail first place McMurry University by 33 strokes. The top-five includes Mcmurry (294), University of Mary Hardin-Baylor (303), University of Texas at Brownsville (309), Trinity University (310) and Texas Lutheran University (311). The final round of the UMHB Spring Invitational takes place on Tuesday (Feb. 27) in Temple.
