The Southwestern University men's and women's cross country teams raced at the NCAA Division III Pre-National Meet in West Chester, OH with the women placing 14th and the men 16th on Friday (Sept. 22). Jameson Otto (Carrollton, TX/Creekview HS) ran a season-best 26:59 to place 54th out of 210 individuals. Aaron Contreras (Brownsville, TX/St. Joseph's Academy) was the second finisher for the Pirates, placing 94th while Ben Sloan (Spartanburg, SC/Dorman HS) took 100th. SUNY-Geneseo took the men's title with North Central College, Rochester Institute of Technology, Wheaton College and SCAC member DePauw rounding out the top-five. For the women, Jessica Ratcliffe (Coppell, TX/Coppell HS) was the top-finisher, placing 65th out of 181 runners with a season-best time of 24:15. Tami Warner (Dale, TX/Lockhart HS) was the number two runner for SU, placing 81st while Catherine Cunningham (Friendswood, TX/Friendswood HS) took 88th place. SUNY-Geneseo also won the women's race while Washington University, DePauw, MIT, Wheaton and Ohio Northern filled out the top-five. The race was held on the course where the 2006 NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships are being held. The Pirates' next race is the Texas State Division III Cross Country Championships held in Abilene, TX on Saturday (Sept. 30). SU Sports Information |
