The SU men's and women's swimming teams posted quality times as the women won 125-100 and the men fell 114-71 on Saturday (Jan. 19) in Georgetown, TX. On the women's side, SU opened the meet with a 6.5 second victory in the 200 yard medley relay. Junior Alana Bergfield (Dhahran, Saudi Arabia/The Cranbrook School) earned a pair of individual wins in the 200 yard freestyle and the 100 yard breaststoke while also getting a win as part of the 200 medley relay. Fellow junior Jessie Carrier (Victoria, TX/St. Joseph HS) also won three total events, as a part of the 200 yard freestyle relay, the 50 yard freestyle and the 100 yard butterfly. First-year Kassie Krusely (Round Rock, TX/Round Rock HS) picked up a win in the 200 yard IM and Michele Comerota (Missouri City, TX/Hightower HS) won in the 100 yard freestyle. In the men's race, first-year Dustin McCammon (San Antonio, TX/Judson HS) recorded victories in both the 200 yard IM and the 100 yard backstroke. Taylor Steele (Houston, TX/Cypress Ridge HS) came out on top in the 200 yard freestyle and John Prater (Austin, TX/Star Charter Academy) was first in the 100 yard breaststroke. He posted a pair of lifetime best times, in the 100 backstroke as well as the 200 yard freestyle. The teams travel to San Antonio, TX for the two-day Trinity University Invite on Friday (Jan. 25).
