Week Five (Sept. 21-27, 2003)
Congratulations to Latasha Smith (OH, 5-9, Jr., Thibodaux, LA) of Grambling State. Smith led the Lady Tigers as they finished 3 -3 in six games over a seven- day stretch. Smith recorded 91 kills for a 15.2 kpg average for the week. She also recorded 45 digs, 3 assists and 4 blocks (2 unassisted).
    News and Notables for week five:
  • Phylis Hetie and Megan Chatman of Alabama A&M were selected to the All- Tournament team of the UAB Invitational 09/27 in Birmingham, AL.
  • Phylis Hetie (OH/MB) of Alabama A&M recorded 67 kills for a 3.63 kpg average for the week.
  • The Lady Panthers of Prairie View A&M are currently on a 4 - match winning streak.
  • LaQuana Morgan (OH) of Texas Southern had 12 kills in two games against Southern, leading her team to their first SWAC win of the season.
  • Verita White (OH/MB) of Jackson State had 32 kills (4.57 avg.) in two matches for the week, and 16 kills against both Southern and Xavier (both were wins for JSU).
  • Angela Franke (OH) of Jackson State had 13 kills, seven digs, and four blocks against Southern.
  • Jonette Ozen (MB) of Prairie View A&M had 10 kills for the week (3.33 avg).
  • Robin Williams (OH) of Mississippi Valley State had 33 kills for the week (2.75 avg).
  • Rolanda Mayfield (OH) of Alcorn State had a match and season high 21 kills against MVSU on 09/24.
