Due to Hurricane Ike, officials at Louisiana-Monroe and
Alabama A&M have pushed up the football game between ULM and AAMU to
Friday (tonight) at 7:30 p.m. (CST) in Monroe, La. The game was
originally scheduled for Saturday at 6:00 p.m.
Officials at both schools earlier in the week had
discussed the option of moving the game to Thursday night, however on Tuesday
decided to still play the game on Saturday as Hurricane Ike had kept a
more southern course than expected. With Ike now turning north and
expected to make landfall sometime shortly after midnight early Saturday
morning, it was decided Friday morning to move the game.
Alabama A&M's team has already arrived in Monroe having
left Thursday night just before midnight from the Huntsville campus, which
was the team's original travel plan for the Saturday kickoff. The team
will return to campus immediately following the game.
This is an historic game for Alabama A&M as it is the
first time in the Bulldogs' history they have played against an NCAA Div. I
(FBS) team. Both teams are looking for their first win of the
season. Alabama A&M dropped its first two games to Tennessee State
and Jacksonville State, while ULM fell to Auburn and Arkansas.
