Prairie View A&M 2-1 The Lady Panthers got on the board in the first 15 seconds of play when Angelica Diaz scored unassisted, but PVAMU gave up two goals – including the game winner in the 83rd minute. Monica Diaz and Claudia Martinez each had two shots for Texas College. Arkansas State d. Univ. Arkansas-Pine Bluff 7-0 UAPB goalkeeper Bre-Ann Laypoole registered 11 saves, but the Lady Lions were shutout by in-state school Arkansas State. Alabama A&M d. Austin Peay 2-1 The Bulldogs got their opening win of the season as they downed Austin Peay 2-1. All the goals in the game were unassisted. AAMU’s Celeste Roberts scored in the 11th minute of play while LaTonya Davis scored in the 33rd minute of action. Kennesaw State d. Jackson State 3-1 Jackson State scored first as Naira Crimiel found Zachene Crooks for a shot from the right side of the box. However, the Lady Tigers allowed three second-half scores in the game. Allison Lane had 11 saves for the Lady Tigers. Murray State d. Mississippi Valley State 5-1 MVSU allowed four goals in the first half as they fell to Murray State. MVSU’s Tina Ybarra got the ball from Jency Jose and scored on a crossing-goal style kick. Jordan Thomas registered 11 stops for the Devilettes. Houston Baptist d. Prairie View A&M 6-0 HBU scored four goals in the first and two in the second as they shutout the Lady Panthers. Jessica Garcia had six saves in the game. Mercer d. Jackson State 4-0 Allison Lane has seven saves for the Lady Tigers, but Jackson State fell 4-0 in Macon, Georgia. JSU’s lone shot came from Christina Burrows. Tennessee-Martin d. Mississippi Valley State 1-0 A defensive game saw UTM score early and hold on for the win. MVSU goalkeeper Jordan Thomas had 15 saves in the game. Sam Houston State 5, Prairie View A&M 0 SHSU tallied four of their five goals in first 42 minutes of play as they blanked the Lady Panthers 5-0. |
