Lamar d. Prairie View
A&M 3-0 (25-9, 25-9, 25-13)
Sarah Mayweather had five
kills to lead the Lady Panthers, but PVAMU lost in straight sets to Lamar. Cheri Lindsay had four kills and 14 digs for
the Lady Panthers while Nicole Thompson added three kills and nine digs.
Memphis d. Alabama A&M 3-0 (25-10, 25-9, 25-8)
Madinah Abdullah had five
kills and six digs for the Bulldogs, however Alabama A&M fell in their opening
match of the University of Memphis Tournament.
UT-Arlington d. Jackson
State 3-0 (25-16, 25-17, 25-18)
Shunta Issac registered
eight kills and three blocks while Brittany Larkin had six kills and nine digs,
but the Lady Tigers could not overcome numerous hitting errors as they fell to
UT-Arlington. Whitney Nowlin had 11
assists and three digs in the contest.
Mississippi State d. Univ.
Arkansas-Pine Bluff 3-0 (25-15, 25-11, 25-23)
Jasmine Jacobs led the
Lady Lions with four kills and three digs while Jenitra Shields had three
kills, two digs and two blocks in the contest.
Baylor d. Prairie View
A&M 3-0 (25-16, 25-16, 25-13)
Sharonda Marshall, Shaun
Williams, and Sarah Mayweather each had four kills for the Lady Panthers as
they fell to 0-2 on the season. Erin
Fondel tallied 15 assists and a block in the match.
SMU d. Prairie View
A&M 3-0 (25-11, 25-13, 25-19)
Cheri Lindsay garnered six
kills and four digs in the match, but Prairie View A&M dropped its third
consecutive match of the season in a straight set decision to SMU. Marshall and Williams each had five kills in
the match.
North Texas d. Jackson
State 3-0 (25-18, 25-11, 25-15)
Shunta Issac led the team
with seven kills while Whitney Nowlin handed out 14 assists with six digs, but
the Lady Tigers fell to North Texas in straight sets. Keesha Duminie and Nine Baxter each had three
kills and two blocks in the match.
Texas Tech d. Jackson
State 3-1 (23-25, 25-12, 25-18, 25-15)
Although Jackson State
used a .333 hitting clip to win the first set, Texas Tech downed the Lady
Tigers in four sets. Keesha Duminie led
the Lady Tigers with 10 kills and a block while Brittany Larkin had seven kills
and five digs.
McNeese State d. Alabama
A&M 3-0 (25-20, 25-21, 25-23)
Madinah Abdullah and
Makeda Moore each tallied 10 kills for the Bulldogs, but they could not break
into the win column as the fell to McNeese State. Abdullah also had 12 digs in the game while
Natalie Rodriguez had 36 assists and two blocks.
Arkansas-Little Rock d.
Alabama A&M 3-0 (25-16, 25-21, 25-13)
Makeda Moore had 10 kills
and nine digs, but Alabama A&M fell in straight sets to UALR. Natalie Rodriguez had 28 assists and 11 digs
in the contest.
Colorado d. Univ.
Arkansas-Pine Bluff 3-0 (25-13, 25-11, 25-9)
The Lady Lions could not
overcome a low hitting percentage in each set as they fell to Colorado in
straight sets. Philana Hemlee led the
team with four kills and four digs.
Troy d. Univ.
Arkansas-Pine Bluff 3-0 (25-16, 25-17, 25-19)
Tiana McCowan and Philana
Hemlee each had five kills in the game, but the Lady Lions fell to 0-3 on the
season. Jasmine Jacobs had four kills,
seven digs and three assists in the contest.
