Octavia Blue

Player Profile

Position:
Assistant Coach (1st Year)

Octavia Blue has experienced success on the court at the collegiate level and professionally. Her experience should help her relate to Bobcat players and motivate them to reach their goals.

At the University of Miami Blue experienced success from the beginning of her career to the end. As a freshman she was named to the Big East All-Rookie Team. During her sophomore and junior seasons she remained consistent making the All-Big East Third Team both years. For her senior season she was able to take from her previous three years experience and improve her play enough to be named to the All-Big East First Team. Her senior season she averaged a team high 19.2 points per game and 5.7 rebounds per game. Her best scoring performance that year was against Florida Atlantic, she scored 40 points.

During her college career Blue started 107 of the 109 games she participated in. Over those 109 games she totaled 1,724 points (15.8 ppg) and 672 rebounds (6.2 rpg). Her career at Miami was so impressive she was inducted into the Miami Sports Hall of Fame. Her impressive career did not end at Miami as she was drafted by the Los Angeles Sparks in the second round of the 1998 WNBA draft and played nine seasons for various countries in Europe.

Blue, a graduate of the University of Miami will also serve as an example for the Bobcat players of how to take care of business both on the floor and in the classroom. She received her Bachelor's Degree in Sociology/Sports Management.
