Bobcats Pound #8 Warner Southern 18-2

February 25, 2005

Box Score

MIAMI GARDENS, FL--  St. Thomas University (10-5, 4-0 FSC) only had to go seven innings to stretch their winning streak to seven games, while also staying undefeated in the Florida Sun Conference.

After starting pitcher Armando Fernandez (2-1) gave up a run in the top of the first on a passed ball, he went the distance to pick up the win via a complete game. Fernandez struck out 10 Royals against only one walk.

STU answered the run quickly and dominantly as they platted six runs in the bottom of the first inning. The Bobcats connected for three doubles in the inning of Royals' starter Milton Feliciano.

The other big inning was the 5th, as St. Thomas University scored four runs before an out was recorded.

Alex Pascual was the leading hitter for the Bobcats going 4-5 with two runs scored. Richard Lengel and Adrian Gonzalez (#16) lead the team with three RBIs apiece. Juan Mora, Chris Martinez, and Adrian Gonzalez (#4) all scored 2 or more runs.

Twenty hits are the most for the Bobcats this season. After dropping two out of three games to open the season, STU has been on fire at the plate. They are averaging just over 10.5 runs a game during their current 7-game winning streak.

St. Thomas resumes their series against Warner tomorrow with a double header beginning at 1 PM.
