Five Volleyball Players Garner All-Conference Honors
Nov. 17, 2006 Stony Brook, N.Y. - Morgan Sweany was named to the America East First-Team for the second straight year as one of five total members of the Stony Brook volleyball team to garner all-conference honors. Sweany was named to the first team and Claire Lindner, Amy Oleksiej, Kaitlyn Deutsch and Gulce Nazli Dikecligil were all named to the America East Second-Team. Sweany led the America East in kills per game with 4.47 and total kills with 483. The junior outside hitter was named America East Player of the Week four times this year. Lindner led the Seawolves with 4.31 digs per game and was second in conference. The senior Libero ranks fourth all-time at Stony Brook with over 1,300 digs. Oleksiej was named to the second-team for the first time in her career, Deutsch garnered the honors for the first time after leading the conference with 11.68 assists per game and Dikecligil was honored for the first time after finishing sixth in America East with 3.86 kills per game. The Seawolves will take on top-seeded Albany in the first round of the America East Tournament this Saturday at 3:00 p.m.
