Maria Samilo and Julie Zub Awarded America East Player of the Week Honors
Oct. 4, 2004 Stony Brook, N.Y. - Senior Maria Samilo earned America East Player of the Week honors and teammate Julie Zub was awarded the America East Setter of the Week, as announced by the conference on Monday. The duo led the Seawolves to a pair of victories over the weekend, including a three-game sweep over UMBC in the conference opener. Samilo was the Seawolves top offensive weapon in the two victories, leading the team with 29 kills (4.83 kpg) while hitting .362 in six games. Zub was the catalyst of the Seawolves' offense, averaging an impressive 14.00 assists per game and 3.00 digs per game. It is the second time this season that Zub earned the conference's setter of the week award. The Seawolves are back in action this Tuesday when they travel to Fairfield to take on the Stags at 7 p.m.
