Morgan Sweany and Kaitlyn Deutsch Garner Weekly Honors

Stony Brook, N.Y. - For their performances over the past week, both Morgan Sweany and Kaitlyn Deutsch earned weekly honors. Sweany was named America East Player of the Week and Stony Brook Athlete of the Week. Deustch was named America East Setter of the Week for the first time in her career.

Sweany led the Seawolves to a 2-1 week and a second place finish in the Red Flash Invitational. In three matches, Sweany totaled an impressive 60 kills and 58 digs. After averaging 4.62 kills per game over the week, Sweany now ranks second in the America East with 4.33 kills per game. Over the weekend Sweany posted three double-doubles as the junior outside hitter rattled off 24 kills and added 24 digs against St. Francis, blasted 24 kills and added 24 digs against Princeton, and totaled 12 kills with 10 digs against Coppin State. For her incredible run at the Red Flash Invitational, Sweany was named to the all-tournament team.

Deutsch continued to pass consistently for the Seawolves, totaling 169 assists in three matches last week. Deutsch averaged 13.00 assists per game over the three-match span as she helped the Seawolves to a 2-1 week and a second-place finish at the Red Flash Invitational. In the win over St. Francis, the junior setter totaled a career-high 68 assists. She followed this up with a 60-assist performance against Princeton. On the season Deutsch is averaging 11.33 assists per game and has 714 assists to only eight ball handling errors.
