Volleyball Tops Maine 3-0

Stony Brook, N.Y. - The Stony Brook volleyball team swept Maine 3-0 behind victories of 30-24, 30-26, 30-23 at the Indoor Sports Complex on Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Seawolves improved to 13-13 overall and 5-5 in America East play, while the Black Bears fell to 12-10 and 6-4.

Stony Brook got off to a solid start, picking up a 30-24 win in Game 1 behind four kills from Morgan Sweany and three from Danielle MacKnight. The Seawolves picked up their play in Game 2, hitting .317 behind six kills from Amy Oleksiej and four each from Sweany and MacKnight. In the third game, Melissa Votruba led an even attack for the Seawolves with six kills as SB hit .342.

Sweany led the Seawolves with 13 kills, while MacKnight added 10 kills and five blocks. Abby Egan had a match-high 17 digs, while Julie Zub chipped in with 40 assists.

Carmen Morgan led the Black Bears with a match-high 15 kills, while Brittany Howe added 13 kills in the loss.

The Seawolves are back in action on Friday when they travel to take on Albany at 7:00 p.m.
