Volleyball Takes Third At Albany Invite
Oct. 22, 2000 Albany, NY - The Stony Brook Seawolves volleyball team posted a 1-2 record at the Albany Invitational this past weekend, defeating Albany on Friday night but falling to Niagara and Cornell on Saturday. The Seawolves are now 8-14 on the season. Cynthia Orengo had seven kills and four block assists and Marisa Feldman had a career-high 11 digs in Stony Brook's 15-6, 15-6, 15-8 win over Albany (2-15) on Friday. It was the second win over Albany this season. Debra Falkenberg had 13 kills and 10 digs, but Stony Brook hit just .13 and committed 13 service errors in a 15-9, 17-15, 15-10 loss to Niagara, who won for just the fourth time this season. Rachel Goldsmith led three players in double-digit digs totals with 11. Catrina Gordon also had 10 digs. Down 1-0 to Cornell in games, the Seawolves rallied to win game two with 15 kills. However, Cornell was too much, winning the next two games, 15-5, to win the match. The Seawolves hit just .045 in the loss. Jaime O'Connor had 10 digs. Falkenberg was selected to the All-Tournament team for her efforts as the Seawolves took a third place finish. The Seawolves head to Fairfield Wednesday night. |
