Sweany Hits For 33 Kills As Brown Edges Volleyball 3-2

Providence, R.I. - Despite a career-night from Morgan Sweany, the Seawolves volleyball team fell to Brown 3-2 (30-27, 30-22, 21-30, 22-30, 15-13) in the final match of the Brown Invitational. With the loss the Seawolves fall to 6-8 on the season and Brown improves to 3-8. Sweany led the Seawolves attack with a career-high 33 kills and added 19 digs for the double-double. Claire Lindner paced the defence for Stony Brook, as the junior libero dug a career-best 35 balls. Kate Ruskowski paced the offense for Stony Brook with 52 assists. Brown was able to pull out the victory thanks to ballanced offense and defense. Four players ended the match with double-digit kills and five had double-digit digs. Shawn Tulac led the way with 22 kills. For her performance over the weekend, Sweany was named to the all-tournament team. In a three-game span Sweany racked up 54 kills and 32 digs. The Seawolves return to action on September 30 when they open up conference play at Albany at 7:00 p.m.
