West Point, N.Y. - The Stony Brook women's tennis team was hurt by a depleted lineup on Friday evening, falling 7-0 to Army and 4-2 to Southern Miss at the Lichtenberg Tennis Center. With the losses, the Seawolves dropped to 5-6 this season, while Army improved to 13-7 and Southern Miss evened its record at 9-9.

Stony Brook began the day's play with doubles matches against Army, as Anne Cathrine Valle and Georgia Bushell fell 8-3 at No. 1 and Lauren Conching and Victoria Vasile were downed 8-3 at the No. 2 spot. Valle was forced to retire after losing the first set 6-4 at No. 1 singles, while Bushell (6-1, 6-0), Conching (6-3, 6-0) and Vasile (6-0, 6-1) were downed in straight sets at No. 2 through No. 4, respectively. The Seawolves were shorthanded with only four players in the singles lineup and had to default the No. 5 and No. 6 matches.

Facing Southern Miss in the second match of the day, the Seawolves got singles wins from Valle (6-2, 6-1) and Bushell (3-6, 7-6, 10-7) at the top two spots in the lineup. Conching (6-2, 6-0) and Vasile (6-4, 6-3) were defeated at No. 3 and No. 4 and the Seawolves defaulted at the bottom spots to clinch a 4-2 Southern Miss victory.

Stony Brook is back in action on Tuesday, April 6, when the Seawolves travel to Siena to face the Saints at 2 p.m.
