Women's Swimming and Diving loses to UMass, 190-110

Stony Brook, N.Y. - In the first home meet of the season, the Stony Brook University women's swimming and diving team fell to UMass, 190-110 on Saturday at the University Pool. Stony Brook is 0-1 while UMass is 1-0.

The Seawolves had a good start on the afternoon when the 'A' relay won the 200-yard medley in 1:53.58.

In the 1000-yard freestyle, Kym Sgrignoli and Kari Albery took first and second with a time of 11:21.18 and 11:26.76, respectively. Rebecca Sayles followed two events later, winning the 200-yard freestyle in 1:59.99.

Brittany Whipple continued her strong start coming first in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:09.68. Lucy Liu also won an event when she touched first in the 200-yard backstroke.

The next meet is on November 8, 2006 when they face Fordham at home at 5:00 pm.
