May 6, 2007

Box Score

Stony Brook, N.Y. - In her final collegiate game, Sarah Hoffman pitched a complete game to help lead the Stony Brook softball team to a 6-1 win over Albany in the final regular season game of the 2007 season. Stony Brook concludes the season 28-20, 11-9 in America East play. Albany is 30-15, 11-9.

Ashley Westphal would give the Seawolves an 1-0 lead when she hit her fifth home run of the season. They would break the game open an inning later with a five-run fourth.

Stony Brook loaded the bases to start the fourth and took a 2-0 lead on a Kelly Oberto RBI single. After a fielder's choice forced Samantha Posey out at home, Jamie Downer doubled to center field, driving in Molly Kestranek and Oberto. With two outs, Vicki Kavitsky singled Sara Cerrone and Downer home as the Seawolves took a commanding 6-0 lead.

Albany scored its lone run in the bottom of the inning.

Stony Brook's 28-20 is its best overall record in the school's Division I history.
