Struzenberg Tosses Complete Game, SB Sweeps Maine With 6-1 Win

Stony Brook, N.Y. - Freshman Alyssa Struzenberg went the distance, scattering five hits over seven innings to lead the Stony Brook softball team to a sweep over Maine with a 6-1 win at University Field. Stony Brook has won a season-high five games in a row and moves to 17-9, 5-1. Maine is 17-19, 2-4. After three scoreless innings, Stony Brook got on the board in the fourth. Marissa Fleury had an RBI double driving in Vicki Kavitsky and Samantha Posey had a sacrifice fly driving in Kelsi Fanelli. In the fifth inning, Vicki Kavitsky continued her hot play of late, driving home Sara Cerrone and Jamie Downer. Stony Brook added two more runs in the sixth inning. Maine scored its lone run in the sixth inning. Alyssa Struzenberg picked the win, her third of the year to go to 3-1. Christine McGivney took the loss for Maine. Stony Brook returns to the diamond on Wednesday, April 11 when it takes on Hartford in a doubleheader. Game one's first pitch is slated for 2 pm.
