Cindy Bennett Named America East Women's Soccer Rookie Of The Week

Oct. 14, 2002

Stony Brook, N.Y. - Freshman goalie Cindy Bennett (Canton, Mich./Belleville, HS) was named America East Women's Soccer Rookie of the Week on Monday, the America East announced.

Bennett made a spectacular return from a shoulder injury on Friday night, making five saves as Stony Brook stunned Boston University 1-0. After missing nearly seven games, Bennett jumped back in the starting lineup to notch her second career shutout and end the Terriers' 27-game home unbeaten streak.

Bennett is the second Seawolf to earn Rookie of the Week recognition in 2002. Jacqueline Anthony (New Brighton, Minn./Irondale HS) earned the honor on September 23.

The Seawolves (3-8-2, 1-1-1) are currently in fourth place in the America East and will be back in action on Thursday when they play host to Binghamton.
