Seawolves Tennis Sweeps Longwood, 6-1

Farmville, Va. -The Stony Brook men's and women's tennis team each earned a 6-1 win over Longwood University, Tuesday at the Lancer Courts. Rachel Kimelman's win at the No. 3 doubles and No. 6 single spot helped earn the victory on the women's side, while the men were led by Jan Krejci and Tal Meir who both went 2-0 on the afternoon. The Lancers only point came in doubles action as their No. 1 and No. 2 teams topped SB. The Seawolves, responded sweeping the singles matches, including a 7-6, 6-0 win by Hana Chovanova at the No. 1 spot. Senior AC Valle dominated at the No. 2 position with a straight set win, while Kimelman allowed only two games in her straight set victory. On the men's the duo of Krejci and Meir were the only Seawolves to record a victory in doubles, defeating Longwood 8-3. In singles action, SB tallied six straight wins to record the victory. Michael Crooks notched a 6-1, 6-4 win at No. 4 and Jean-Francois Robitaille rallied his way to a 6-1, 6-3 win at the five spot. Both the men's and women's tennis teams will be back in action, tomorrow March 23 as they travel to face James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Va.
