Swimming and Diving Fairs Well at UConn Invitational

The Stony Brook University men's swimming team has a good showing at the UConn Invitational, which was a non-scoring meet. Nathan French led the way for the Seawolves with a second place finish in the 100 backstroke (57.44) and third in the 200 IM (2:04.08). Bryce Cullinane finished first in his inaugural race as a Seawolf after trasferring from the University of Hawaii, as he placed first in the 1000 freestyle (10:08.31). Jon Sigurosson, a freshman from Iceland, captured the 50 free (22.08) and touched second in the 100 breaststroke (59:53). Vladimir Sreckovic finished third in the 200 breast (2:16.59) while Ruslan Safarov placed third in 200 backstroke (2:06.21). Chris Pai, a transfer from Brandeis, finished second in the 50 free (22.16) and was a member of the third-place 200 freesylte relay team along with Chris Pai, Sigurosson, Dan Piastuck, and Alex Kissel. On the women's side, senior Shirlee Manoogian paced the Seawolves, as she finished first in the 400 IM (4:31.08) and set a new school record in the 100 butterfly (57.99). Senior Alison Porteus nabbed a second place finish in the 100 breaststroke (1:07.21). The Seawolves travel to Amherst to take on UMass on October 29th at 1:00 p.m.
