Men's Swimming and Diving Slips to Third Place in Day Two of AE Championships

UMBC charged into first place on the men's side of the America East Swimming and Diving Championships this afternoon. Stony Brook, who led after Day One, slipped to third place with 218.50 points. UMBC currently has 297.50 while Binghamton is in second place with 259.

In the 500 freestyle, Nathan French recorded a ninth place finish for Stony Brook in a time of 4:43.33. Senior Kyle Thornton finished in 14th place (4:50.28) while Bryce Cullinane had a 15th place finish (4:50.76) for the Seawolves.

Rafael Labour registered an eighth place finish in the 200 IM after touching in 1:59.31.

Stony Brook recieved two top-eight performances in the 50 freestyle. Alex Kissel led the way finishing in fourth place in 21.49, while Jon Sigurosson had a seventh place finish in 21.88. Omer Ozcan (9th, 21.75) Chris Pai (10th, 21.80), Yoni Eldor (12th, 21.99), Jason Maschi (14th, 22.20), and Dan Piastuck (16th, 22.23) all scored for the Seawolves.

The 200 freestyle relay team of Kissel, Labour, Sigurosson, and Pai had a third place finish in 1:25.64.

Day three of the Championships continues tommorrow in the four-day competition held in Boston University.
