Stony Brook falls to New Hampshire, 4-0

Oct. 29, 2006

Durham, N.H. - Off a cross from Scott Rowling, Chris Banks scored his first of two goals on the day as the #6 Stony Brook men's soccer team lost to #3 New Hampshire, 4-0, at Bremmer Field on Sunday afternoon. The Seawolves end the 2006 season 6-12-1, 3-5-1 in the America East. New Hampshire improves to 12-4-3, 6-2-1 in conference play. New Hampshire will now travel to Vermont to take on the #2 Catamounts on Wednesday afternoon.

The cold, windy day in New England affected play in the first half as the Seawolves got off eight shots, many of which were knocked down by the weather conditions. Michael Palacio and Yahaya Musa each had opportunities to score but were unable to convert.

Late in the first half, off a corner piece, Rowling sent a ball in that was headed home by Banks, giving New Hampshire a 1-0 lead. Rowling added a goal of his own when he converted a 20-yard blast into the top right corner for a 2-0 lead. In the 63rd minute with the Seawolves defense pushed up, Banks scored on a breakaway, chipping the ball past goalkeeper Brian Tepfer. Bryan Stewart added a goal six minutes later for a 4-0 lead.
