BU Blanks Men's Soccer 2-0 in America East Semis

Nov. 10, 2004

Box Score

Boston, Mass. - Boston University's Federico Bianchi scored a pair of goals as the Terriers topped Stony Brook 2-0 in an America East men's soccer semifinal on Wednesday night at Nickerson Field. The loss ends Stony Brook's turn-around season at 11-6-3, while the Terriers improve to 10-7-1 and will host the America East Championship on Sunday.

Stony Brook, which was competing in its first America East Tournament since joining the league in 2001, nearly tripled its win total from a year ago when the Seawolves finished just 4-13-1.

The Terriers got on the board 19:21 into the contest when Bianchi took a cross from Brian Conway and tucked a shot inside the left post from 15 yards out.

BU tacked on an insurance goal just over 12 minutes into the second half when Stony Brook goalkeeper John Moschella came out of the net to challenge for a ball, but it fell right to Bianchi, who fired it into the far right corner to make it 2-0 in favor of the home team.

Moschella (8-3-3) turned away four shots in the loss, while BU's Chad Comroe made three stops.
