Men's Lacrosse Hosts UMBC Saturday Night

Stony Brook, N.Y. - The Stony Brook men's lacrosse team will battle UMBC in an America East matchup Saturday night at LaValle Stadium. UMBC (6-6, 4-0) and Stony Brook (8-3, 3-1) will rumble with playoff implicatons on the line. The game will be carried live on WUSB 90.1. Face-off is 7 p.m.

Versus UMBC: UMBC holds a 6-2 series edge.

Last Time Out: Stony Brook earned a convincing 16-5 win over Vermont in Burlington last weekend. Jason Cappadoro recorded seven points to help SB to its third straight win.

Versus Ranked Opponents: Stony Brook is 4-45 versus ranked opponents since 1990 and two of the wins have come this season. The Seawolves have never beaten a team ranked in the Top 10.

Moving On Up: Jason Cappadoro is blazing his way up the Stony Brook scoring charts. With 41 points to his credit this season, he has 130 for his career which places him eighth on SB's all-time scoring list. He also currently ranks eighth in goals scored (81) and fifth in assists (50). He is currently on pace to become Stony Brook's all-time leading scorer by the end of his career. With 41 points, Cappadoro is ranked amont the top scorers in Division I this season. He is currently ranked seventh in points per game (4.10) and sixth in assists per game (2.2)

Breakout Season: Junior attackman Adam Marksberry is also enjoying a standout season. Marksberry enters Saturday's action with 41 points to his credit. His previous season high was 33 that he set in 2004.

A New Maehr In Town: Sophomore midfielder Ryan Maehr continues to develop as an offensive threat. He has scored twice in each of the last three games and has at least one goal in his last four outings. Last year, he scored seven goals and he enters Saturday's action with 10.
 

 

Balanced Attack: Stony Brook has seven players who have scored 10 or more goals this season. Adam Marksberry (21), Jason Cappadoro (22), Bo Tripodi (17), Rhys Duch (15), Sean Chamberlain (14), Chris Tracey (11) and Ryan Maehr (10) have all reached double figures as part of one of SB's most prolific offenses in the program's history. Through 11 games, the Seawolves have scored 135 goals, an average of 12.3 per game. Last year, SB scored a total of 123 goals for the entire season.

Home Sweet Home: After winning 12 straight at home, the Seawolves have dropped the last two home games. SB is 15-7 at home since LaValle Stadium opened.

News And Notes: The Seawolves are 3-2 in night games at LaValle Stadium. SB is 2-1 at night this season with wins over Rutgers and Quinnipiac . . . the highest ranked opponent that SB has ever faced was No. 2 Princeton in 1993 . . . Bo Tripodi has scored a point in every game this season.
