No. 19 Stony Brook Hosts Hartford On Saturday Night

April 14, 2006

Stony Brook, N.Y. - The No. 19 Stony Brook men's lacrosse team goes for its fifth straight win when it hosts Hartford (2-10, 0-3) in America East action on Saturday night. Stony Brook (6-4, 2-0) enters the game having won six of its last seven games. Watch the game live on Seawolves All-Access or follow the play-by-play on gametracker at www.goseawolves.org. Face-off is 7 p.m.

Last Time Out: Stony Brook broke open a close game with four straight goals in the fourth quarter to take a 12-7 lead en route to a 12-8 win over Lehigh on Wednesday night. It was Stony Brook's third consecutive road win and second in five days. Ryan Hughes, Adam Marksberry and Bo Tripodi each scored twice in the win. Brendan Callahan made eight saves to earn his sixth win of the season.

The Brook Is Rolling: Stony Brook has won four straight and six of its last seven games entering Saturday's contest against Hartford. A win over the Hawks would give SB its first five-game winning streak in two years.

Rank Has Privilege: With its pair of wins last week, Stony Brook improved to 5-4 and moved into the USILA STX Top 20 this week. SB checked in at No. 19. The Seawolves broke into the Top 20 for the first time in program history last season. Six of Stony Brook opponents this season have been ranked in the Top 20 at some point during the season.

On The Mark: Adam Marksberry scored twice, including the game-winner in the fourth quarter, to help Stony Brook defeat Lehigh on Wednesday night. His 71 career goals (11th) and 51 career assists (9th) rank among the best in program history. He also ranks ninth in total points with 122.

Ryans' Hope Playing no small part in Stony Brook's recent surge has been the two Ryans in the Stony Brook midfield. Sophomore Ryan Hughes continues to flash his speed in the midfield and has scored five goals in his last three games. Maehr tallied a big man-up goal in the third quarter of the Albany game and added another goal against Lehigh.

Going Duch: Rhys Duch was one of the stars in the win over Albany. The sophomore midfielder scored a career-best five goals and finished with six points to lead SB. His fifth goal proved to be the game-winning tally in the fourth quarter. Entering the Albany game, Duch had scored only four goals in eight games. His efforts against Albany along with a one goal and one assist performance versus Denver earlier in the week earned him America East Player of the Week honors. On Wednesday, he continued his strong play with a goal and two assists in the Lehigh win.

In Need Of Assistance?: During Stony Brook's winning streak, Jason Cappadoro has piled up 15 assists, an average of 3.8 per game. He is now averaging 2.2 assists per game which ranks seventh in the nation. His career total of 91 assists ranks second among active Division I players. He trails only Jon Birsner of Navy who has 93.

45 And Counting: Senior Jason Cappadoro's point scoring streak has reached 45 games. The last time he did not register a single point was during his freshman season against Delaware on April 2, 2003. Cappadoro has at least one point in 51 of the 53 games he has played in at Stony Brook.

Versus Hartford: Stony Brook owns a 13-4 edge in the all-time series between the two teams. The Seawolves doubled up Hartford 20-10 last season at Trinity College.

Conference Confidence: A win over Hartford would stake Stony Brook to a 3-0 conference record, marking the first time in its short America East history that the Seawolves have won their first three conference games.
